Henry VIII had annulled his marriage to Catherine of Aragon and seen how she and Mary still had strong support and were real thorns in his side. He just couldn't risk leaving Anne alive for her to become yet another thorn in his side and causing trouble.

    Reading an online biography of Mary I, it said that Anne Boleyn was initially offered a divorce from Henry, but she refused. Is there any evidence to support this ?
