The English Renaissance tends to be dated from the late 16th century during the reign of Elizabeth I when the printing press was used more and there was a real climate of culture and literature. It definitely had its beginnings in Henry VIII's reign with the spread of humanism and the music and poetry of his court, but the height of the English Renaissance was in Elizabeth's reign with the likes of Shakespeare, Spenser, Marlowe, Jonson etc.
