I’m doing a project about the Famous women in History and Anne is among one of those I’m going to portray…But to actually show that she is Queen Of England,I would like her to have a crown but there is no representation of Anne with a crown (at least to me knowledge ),she is always portrayed with her French Hood or English Hood . So,is there any crown that Anne might have worn,a description of a crown she wore or a Crown worn by Natalie Dormer in The Tudors that would be close to what Anne would have worn ? Thank you in advance,Claire :)

Anne Boleyn was crowned with the crown of St Edward, which had previously only been used for crowning the reigning monarch and after the Te Deum was sung and she was able to swap the heavy St Edward’s crown for a specially designed lighter one.

The original St Edward Crown was destroyed in the English Civil War but was recreated for the coronation of Charles II in 1661. You can find out more about it if you do a search on Wikipedia for "St Edward's Crown" and also on the Wikipedia page for "Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom".

Wow ! Thank you for your quick answer ! St Edward’s crown is so huge,I understand why she has to swap for another crown ! Is there a description of the lighter crown maybe ?
Because, well St Edward’s crown would not really fit with the atmosphere of the drawing (Well in fact,Anne will be shown touching her neck, with her falcon looking behind her,as if a blade was coming…So It’s quite symbolic and a crown as huge would be a little too much lol). Is there any other crown that she would have worn ? Or could you recommend me one of the crowns/Tiaras worn By N.Dormer in the Tudors that would be historically accurate from these : http://theanneboleynfiles.wetpaint.com/page/Anne+Boleyn+royal+headpiecies+in+the+Tudors
Thank you again in advance and sorry if i annoyed you by this question .

How about the crown worn by Elizabeth I in her coronation portrait – see http://www.elizabethfiles.com/the-coronation-of-elizabeth-i-15th-january-1559/4661/? I’m not sure about the ones from The Tudors as I don’t think any of them would have been historically accurate.

You haven’t annoyed me at all, don’t worry!

Thank you once again ! I think I’ll take the Elizabeth I crown 🙂 It will add even more symbolism to the drawing and since I read in one of your amazing articles that Elizabeth modelled her coronation on Anne’s,it will really fit !
If you like I will show you the drawing when it’s finished ( It will take a lot of time and i will maybe do some other drawings of the other hystorical Women before but be sure that I will show you :)) if you like 🙂
