They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I think that is the case with Anne. She was not a classic English Rose kind of beauty, i.e. blonde and blue-eyed, but was, instead, dark-haired and dark eyed with a sallow/olive complexion. I think her looks, her style, her sophistication, her wit, her education and her confidence made her stand out when she arrived at the English court and I think she had magnetism and made men's heads turn. Her personality and confidence shone through and she captivated those who saw her and met her. She had a certain "je ne sais quoi" and that was passed on to her daughter who also was no beauty but who could flirt with and charm those around her.
