Alison Weir says “The executioner, I now know … was sent for before Anne’s trial, thus preempting the verdict”. Is it true? Thanks, Claire!
Anne's trial was on 15th May and her execution on the 19th, postponed from the 18th, so it is likely that the executioner was ordered prior to her trial. He had to travel from Calais to London and could conceivably have done the journey in that time if conditions at sea were perfect, but it is more likely that it took longer.
