Thank you so much to Barb from The Tudor Tutor who told me about these wonderful BBC comedy sketches featuring one of my favourite actors, Brian Blessed, as Henry VIII or Henry 8.0! The BBC says of these sketches:
“The Tudor king is alive and well, and living in a suburban semi with his long-suffering sixth wife Catherine Parr. He has embraced modern technology and lives his life online – insulting the King of France on Facebook, surfing for honeys, and blocking the Pope on Twitter. Very much the modern man – he likes Top Gear, Kings of Leon and Sunday roasts, he dislikes Michael Buble, I.T. helpdesks and Lily Allen’s manager. These clips offer an insight into what happens when a 16th century king meets 21st century suburbia. Eat your heart out David Starkey here’s the real thing!”
Here is one clip as a taster and you can see the others on our “Henry VIII is Alive” page or on the BBC Comedy site.
Is this from Black Adder?
No, it’s a special online comedy series. I do love Blackadder though!
Thats hilarious!!!! “You rather reminded me of Anne Boleyn then… And what happened to her…? Oh yes.” “Fiine… What do you want with your roast?” Lol!!! Brilliant.
Claire!
Thank you so much for posting this! I had to watch it twice cause I laughed so hard the first time! Just FYI if you put the volume up all the way…it goes to 11 (ala Spinal Tap!)
Sooo funny!
Thanks again!
XO-Gina
That’s great! Much funnier than anything I can get on TV!
They’re so funny aren’t they! There is a fan page for Henry 8.0 on Facebook – see http://www.facebook.com/n/?pages%2FHenry-80%2F189519892617&mid=17cef08G2ee12e34G0G4c/a>. I love Brian Blessed and he makes an excellent Henry.
Thanks for posting, this is so funny – I love how Henry is on the Internet all day while poor old Katherine Parr does all the housework.
Oh wow thats soooo funny, i actually just fell off my chair choking on my coca cola! “In ya face frenchie!!!” hysterical!
Yes, it’s absolutely, purely funny! And don’t you think it would be nice if the added other Tudor figures as guest stars, even unseen? Anne on Facebook vs Henry?
