I cannot think of other questions regarding Katherine but I have to say, whilst thinking she was a fool for not just giving Henry what he wanted, and making life much easier for herself and her daughter, I do admire her resolve in the face of such adversary, the hardest of all must have been separation from her beloved child, she was banished to lonely palaces, her household reduced, her royal status stripped from her and her daughter declared a bastard, the king flaunted his mistress allowing Anne to hold court as if she was indeed queen gave her a sumptuous coronation, forced Katherine to hand over her jewels and humiliating for Mary she was sent to her baby sisters house hold to wait on her like a servant, all these slights and insults and yet throughout the long lonely years she never wavered, she never crumpled, when born her future seemed glorious, she was pampered a daughter of Europe’s most powerful monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, in England she was loved and adored, but tragically died a lonely death with only a few of her devoted attendees to mourn her and her daughter, and those loyal English subjects who had openly supported her, her death was very likely to be carcinoma, maybe the misery she had endured caused it we do not know, I’d like to think also that the letter she wrote to Henry was genuine, the style, the very piety of the language does indeed sound like this tragic queen, it is said she signed it with Katherine the Queen, as well she might, she had always referred to herself as Englands queen and she was not going to stop when she was hours from death, it was a very sad ending this noble and regal woman endured, she had given her life to England and been loyal to her husband since they day they had married, she had indeed deserved much better.
