I don’t think Mary was very willing to be with Henry either. In 1522 at a joust the day before the pageant of the assault on castle Vert, Henry wore an embroidered ‘wounded heart’ with the insignia, ‘She has wounded my Heart.’ This is supposed to be in reference to Mary. It seems to me that if this was for Mary, it was because she had turned him down at some point.

Well there’s something I haven’t read before, thanks Sharon.
Boleyn, Mya, I’ve never been sure about Henry Carey, simply because of the fact Henry VIII didn’t acknowledge him. I’d have thought he would at least want to use him to prove the point that he could father more than one healthy son.

I think Catherine looks like William but yet she has a strong resemblence to Elizabeth. (?) And Henry Carey looks to have Henry VIII’s eyes and nose and red air coloring. It’d be nice to know the truth….

Yes Henry Carey did look a lot like a Tudor *sigh* It’s maddening. I honestly don’t understand why he wouldn’t have acknowledged him. Was Henry’s birth close to Henry noticing Anne Boleyn? I’ll have to go and have a look.

Edit: I just checked and yes he was born the same year, 1526 Henry started pursuing Anne. Maybe that had something to do with it?

I don’t understand it though! Why would he have a child (or children) with one sister then go after another and marry + have a kid with the other sister?

I suppose the fact that Mary and Anne had the same antecedents could mean that their children would have some of the same characteristics in their facial features plus a lot of the portraits which we have to work from are perhaps painted to a formula rather than proper copies of the sitter. Then you have the fading of colours and what have you over all those years which gives them all a ‘gingerish’ tint. How I wish the camera had been invented at the same time as the wheel……….

Let us show them that they are hares and foxes trying to rule over dogs and wolves - Boudica addressing the tribes Circa AD60

Gosh, I can now imagine Anne and Jane going at it shouting profanity at each other. LOL, what an image.

To be honest Mya that probably did happen, Anne was known to have ripped the locket from Jane’s neck and I believe gave her slap for having it in the first place. Jane probably ranted at Anne in private, probably calling Anne a bitch for breaking the locket she was given.
