A lovely red rose has began to open in my garden, it is just one on it's own and the other roses from this rose bush are usually pink so it was quite a nice surprise to have a red one. As today as May 19th, I could not help but be reminded of Anne Boleyn and the red roses that are sent to the tower of London, so thought I would share this with the Anne Boleyn files forum. Now I know this isn't an official 'Anne Boleyn' rose like the paticularly impressive example posted by Claire! However I like to think of this as my 'Boleyn' rose.

What a lovely thought for Anne; it looks like you will be able to collect rosehips too- beautiful..

Exactly! Did you do something special with it on May 19?

Well I was going to put it in a vase but then, with it being May 19th, it just didn't feel right to cut it from the rose bush so I just took a photo of it. I hope that doesn't sound like I'm crazy? Laugh

Not crazy at all! I would feel exactly the same way! I love it when things like that happen, it's quite magical isn't it? The red rose coming from the white rose bush on the 19th May.. If you put them together you would have the Tudor rose symbol, which is what Anne sacrificed herself for: Elizabeth..

Beautiful, and a lovely idea naming the rose after Anne.
