Letter coverThe 6th May 1536 is the date on a letter which was allegedly found in Thomas Cromwell’s papers and which was addressed to Henry VIII from “Your most Loyal and ever Faithful Wife, Anne Bullen. From my doleful Prison the Tower, this 6th of May.”

Many historians have dismissed this letter as a fake, but Sandra Vasoli’s research has led her to believe that it is a genuine letter from Anne Boleyn to the king. Find out more in this video talk by Sandra Vasoli as part of Anne Boleyn Day 2016.

  1. Thank you Sandra facinating information and feel that Anne would have wished Henry to know how she felt and indeed wonder if he had any humanity near his end must have had considerable guilt for his cruelty toward her. What an amazing woman her daughter became and so clever at “playing the game” ensuring her own safety.
