I have that book to it’s fascinating reading, I love the Nordic myth the best also, many think the mistletoe is about passionately kissing your loved one or the object of your hearts desire, or let’s face it, just when you have had to many at the works Christmas party, but it could be the other explanation of merely being a courteous host and a means of welcome to guests as they step across the threshold, whatever the true origin it is a lovely custom.
