On the 11th June 1509, King Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon, daughter of Isabel I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, and widow of Arthur, Prince of Wales, Henry’s brother.
The couple married in a private ceremony in one of the Queen’s closets at Greenwich Palace.

Looking at the painting of the young Henry on your last years post, I can see no resemblence at all to the mature King, it seems as though it is a different person altogether, even before he put on all the weight….
