Happy birthday to the Anne Boleyn Files and a huge thank you to you!

Feb17,2022

On this day in history, 17th February 2009, I wrote my very first blog post here on the Anne Boleyn Files.

I had been a freelance writer for a few years, working for clients all over the world and writing about anything and everything, but my passion was Tudor history and I really wanted to start writing about it. Then, in January 2009, I had a dream that would literally change the course of my life.

In that dream, I was a member of the crowd at the execution of Anne Boleyn at the Tower of London on 19th May 1536. While I don’t remember now what I saw in the dream, I vividly remember the feelings. I know I was consumed with horror as I knew that the woman before me was 100% innocent of the charges laid against her. I remember the feeling of my throat closing up and my tongue turning to sandpaper and sticking to the roof of my mouth as I tried to scream out to stop the executioner. I also remember waking up in a cold sweat and shaking Tim awake and telling him (he was a web designer) that he needed to set up a blog for me and that it was going to be called The Anne Boleyn Files.

I began researching Anne Boleyn’s life with the intention of writing post on the blog as a kind of diary of my research, and a way of keeping me sane by writing about something I was passionate about. I had no idea that my posts would ever be found! It was thrilling when people started finding my blog, reading my posts and commenting on them, and before long I was researching and writing about Anne Boleyn full-time.

I am so very grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received on my journey from Anne Boleyn Files followers, and the guidance and friendship I’ve had from many historians, bloggers and authors. I’m even grateful for the hate that’s been flung at me because it made me stronger and made me even more determined to carry on doing what I do.

So thank you to each and everyone of you.

P.S. Yesterday was the 10th birthday of “The Anne Boleyn Collection” and I’m celebrating my offering all three Anne Boleyn Collection books for 99c/99p each on Kindle on Amazon US and Amazon UK until the end of 20th February – bargain!
