Has anyone heard the song 'Transylvania' by Mcfly? It mentions Anne Boleyn at the start and I was wondering whether the song is actually meant to be about Anne Boleyn or if they just picked a name that would rhyme?
I suppose the song could be about Anne Boleyn and Mark Smeaton in a romanticised historical fiction kind of way- almost like they are suggesting that Anne's true love was her penniless musician (very Moulin Rouge)
Does anyone else have any ideas?

Hello Claire-Louise, frankly I think Mcfly could have been singing about anything, yes, you could view it as MS, but in these lyrics it's a secret till hell freezes over, when we all know in reality he confessed to something that never happened. A more likely, but I admit, less romantic notion, is that Anne Boleyn happened to rhyme with tin!

I must agree with you Neil about Anne Boleyn rhyming with tin! Not a very romantic thought!
I listened to the song, and watched the video on YouTube. Okay, I did not like the song (nothing to do with the Anne reference). It's not my things, that's all. I found the video distracting. Marie Antoinette in drag?
It has something to do with a women with a secret lover, who will keep the secret until hell freezes over. I could see a reference to Anne's association with adultry, but this song has nothing to do witha ctual history. More like, an inventive story for a song.
Mind, I could be missing the entire point.

Duchess, I think that's both of us missing the point with this song then! Perhaps we should be very old fashioned and stick to ABBA, at least we can understand them.

I have also found out (groovy rocker that I am), that someone called “Dylan Nirvana” released a punk rock album (11 track CD) called “Anne Boleyn” based on the life of Anne Boleyn (I suppose the clue is in the title). I haven't got a clue what the lyrics are or what it sounds like, but just the thought of it sounds dire. Any bright young things out there heard of this, or better still, listened to it?
I have never heard of this artist before, I have done a search on google for them and they have a myspace page, Im going to have a listen to some of the samples of the album later on when I get in from work, see what its like. the album art work is a bit dodgy, its a headless anne and what i think looks like elizabeth as a background image

I think you're right, Neil. I should stick to the old classics. I'm 26, but I believe I was born in the wrong decade!
Really, who could not love all things ABBA?!

So it seems like they chose 'Anne Boleyn' just to rhyme with 'tin'….and there I was thinking that there might be a history buff amongst the Mcfly band! I should have known really
Yes, Claire-Louise, but at least that makes you a true romantic, not older and more cynical like me.
