I noticed on another thread that there were a lot of Dr Who fans here (or should that be David Tennant?!) and I've just read about how the first episode of the new series was broadcast in the UK on Saturday night, the new Doctor (Matt Smith) particularly getting really good reviews. Did anyone here see it? What did you all think? I'd love to know people's opinions!
The shorts for it have just started cropping up on New Zealand television so hopefully we'll be getting it soon. I have to say its looking really good!

He's just not David Tennant!! He's going to take a lot of getting used to I can tell you. It was a bit of a weird episode and it doesn't help that I missed the first few minutes so I was at a bit of a disadvantage. It was good but I missed David.

I go through those kind of stages with every new doctor – I didn't even like David Tennant at first! Now he's my second favourite (John Pertwee being the first as he's the first one I can remember!)

John Pertwee was brilliant. I also really liked Tom Baker. My kids are really into the Sarah Jane Adventures – she was Doctor Who's companion in the 70s so Pertwee and Baker and then she made that comeback recently with David Tennant. They're also quite into Doctor Who – it's good to indoctrinate kids: Tudor history and Doctor Who!

I have a hard drive full of Dr Who, classic and NuWho.
I remember watching 2nd Doctor vaguely but I really remember JP onwards. Though I must admit to watching SM just to see nasty things happening to Bonnie Langford.

Dr Who companion Elizabeth Sladen ( Sarah Jane Smith) died today, 19th April 2011.

I read that in the paper this morning. I always enjoyed her as Sarah Jane (she was the first of the Doctor's companions that I remember!) and was I just starting to get into The Sarah Jane Adventures. She will be missed.

Love Doctor Who 🙂 Really enjoyed the season six premiere over the Easter weekend! I loved David Tennant, but I must say Matt Smtih has stolen my heart! Also, a Happy Belated Easter to you all! Hope everyone had a good time.
