Just wondering what Tudor books/DVDs you've put on your Christmas list this year. I've put the \” target=”_blank”>David Starkey DVD collection on mine (sorry, I don't think it's available in the USA yet) but I've already got loads of books to read so I haven't asked for books. What's Santa bringing you and what would you buy for a Tudor obsessed friend?

Having read Virgin and the Crab recently, I lent my copy to a girl friend, who also enjoyed it. I wondered if this would be a man's book too. So I decided to send it to my very butch brother in Cyprus.

I know he loved history at school but would he love this book as much as I did?  I sent one off  to him as an early Christmas present. He rang me on Sunday last to say just how much he loved it and he was two thirds through it already. He commented about the research the author Robert Parry had done.

It is so good to share a  book with a loved one and to have given him such enjoyment. In these times when things are a little gloomy it is a book that  ended leaving me feeling happy and hopeful (even though there are some very sombre moments in it). We need at this time to feel uplifted and inspired, which this book achieved.

I would love to receive any book by Edward Rutherfurd which I have'nt read already. I loved The Forest as I know the area well.

An ideal gift is Starkeys oldie 'Rivals in Power' (cc 1990, I think, but still available on amazon) which contains lots and lots of letters from all the good and great of the Tudor dynasty. Also beautifully illustrated. A delight.
As for me, I would like to receive Eric Ives new book on Jane Grey. Santa please take note!
And yes, 'Virgin and the Crab' for anyone who loves their historical fiction, because it is a story that lifts the spirit and makes me happy, too, when I read it.
People remember you when you give books. They are things that people treasure. I don't think Kindle will ever quite have quite the same resonance, do you?

Several of the history books I wanted for Christmas have been pushed back on their publication dates.  The Lady in the Tower is now at Jan. 5th, and The Early Loves of AB is even farther.   I don't expect my friends or family to pay the extra shipping to get it from the UK, so I wait!

Jewelry from this site is already on my wish list. 😉

If a sound track is being released for season 3 of The Tudors, I would certainly like that.

I don't know if I'm going to ask for any Tudor stuff for Christmas.  I wouldn't want my family to think I'm obsessed. 😉  I may ask for Eric Ives \”The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn\” and maybe an Anne Boleyn B necklace.

When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.

Emma,

TheBookDepository.com do free worldwide shipping so you may be able to get hold of the Weir and Wilkinson books from them.

Rochie,

I don't know \”Rivals in Power\”, I'll have to look that one up, sounds good. I keep looking at the Kindle because I buy a huge amount of books and never seem to have enough space for them, but many of the history books that I'd like just aren't on it because they're not bestsellers. I know Amazon's aim is to get every book digitised but it's the fatal flaw at the moment.

ProudtobeCatholic,

I think my family realise I'm obsessed by now! I'm sure that I won't be able to mention it at the Christmas dinner table but I am going to be completely covered in Daniela's jewellery!
