After watching “The Other Boleyn Girl”…
Manohla Dargis, NY Times 'According to this oddly plotted… pastiche,
the girls were… the Paris & Nicky Hilton of the Tudor court'.
What do you think?? I have to confess that it is an interesting view, but could this be right?? Take into acount (based on that view) that Anne was something like Nicky and Mary like Paris?? What's your opinion about it??

Well, I suppose if you take The Other Boleyn Girl as gospel, then I guess Mary and Anne were a little like the Hilton sisters.

AHHHHH, NO! That's just such an insult to Anne and Mary! Even if we are talking about that book, we would have to give credit to Paris and her sister for having a brain. I can't do that.

Gah! Yes, thanks to that damned woman (PG, not the reviewer, who thankfully sounds a bit dubious about TOBG), people believe that Mary and Anne Boleyn were flighty, brainless, promiscuous heiresses! If there truly is karma, PG should be looking over her shoulder!

But to be honest I don't see much of a comparison between Anne and Mary (beautiful, intelligent, talented strong and witty) and Paris and whats-er-name (average-looking, trashy, dim and talentless media wh*res.)

I think a lot of people have misjudged Mary B.
I serious doubt Thomas Boleyn would have educated her to the level of most Tudor noblewomen.
He was looking to improve his family's status and , IMHO, educated all oif his children to a high level regardless of thier sex.

At no point when reading TOBG or watching the movie did I think wow they are so like the Hilton sisters. Sure PG may have played with history but I didn't get the impression that the Boleyn sisters were empty headed. I thought both were presented with brains.

The Boleyn sisters had far more class on the soles of their shoes than the Hiltons have put together. What an insult to them!
Paris Hilton didn't go to prison. She went to jail, which is different, and her p*rn tape was never to be released. I love Paris Hilton now, but not the old Paris Hilton. Circa – 2006

Well, where I'm from, prison is for murderers, rapists, etc. and jail is for the robberies, prostitutes etc. And I agree about the recording thing, Ms. Hilton defintely made a mistake, but don't we all? (;

I've certainly made mistakes, but jail and making p*rn tapes never crossed my mind. Different times that the young'uns don't see anything wrong with these things?

The main problem is that these days, if you do something wrong you get a reality show out of it and thus you get to be all famous and whatnot for having no talent for anything. You are just famous for being famous. And as a teacher one thing that concerns me about the youth is they want to have everything wioth no effort. they want to start at the top. None of this working from the bottom up stuff. Not all youth are like that, but it seem to be the culture that is being developed thanks to people like Hiltons and Kardashians and The Hills.
