Hi everyone 🙂 My name is Jenn. I'm so excited that I found your site today. It's not easy to find people who want to talk about all things Tudors like I do. I am married and have 3 boys. My family and I attend the Maryland State Renaissance Festival every year. It centers on Henry VIII and his court. Each year is dedicated to a particular time in history and a story surrounds it. We are also lucky enough to be close to Pennsylvania, which centers on Elizabeth. We attend both each year. That is where my love for the Tudors and their history started. Now I enjoy doing online research and reading on the subject. I also loved the showtime series the Tudors.

Hi Jenn and welcome.

I live in New York State and our Rennaisance Fair is in Sterling. Northern NY.  We used to go every year when my son was younger.  We try to get there every few years.  It's almost like stepping back in time.  Our fair centers on Elizabeth, also.  Where is the festival in Pa.?  Don't think I've ever heard about it.

I loved The Tudors.  Had withdrawal symptons for a few weeks after it ended.  The AB files is the perfect place to learn all the history related to the Tudors.

Enjoy the site.

Hi Jenn, welcome to the site!

I live in New Zealand and we don't have things like Renaissance Fairs, in fact historical re-enactments of any kind are pretty thin on the ground (unless they involve things like orcs and hobbits!)  But I've always thought Renaissance Fairs sounded pretty cool and have always wanted to go to one!

Anyway, hope you enjoy your time here! Smile

Hi Jenn,

Welcome to the AB Files and the forum, I'm so glad that you found us. I love running this site – now I know I'm not the only person in the world obsessed with all things Tudor!

I'm going to have to visit the USA one day and go to a Renaissance Faire, they sound so much fun, although orcs and hobbit battles sound fun too, Bella!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! The festival in PA is located on the Mount Hope Estate and Winery. Here is a link to the site for all of you who are unable to get there. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting it and if I am then I apologize in advace. They have some great pictures and I thought they might be fun for you to see:

This is the link to the one in Maryland:

http://www.rennfest.com/

There is a spot at the top for photos for MD. The story for this year is as follows for us:

Revel Grove, Oxfordshire, England

The year is 1543.

The Royal Court:

King Henry VIII is visiting Revel Grove as part of his yearly royal progress. However, this visit is of a more personal nature, for he hopes to take the lovely Katherine Parr as his sixth wife.

The King’s attentions have put Katherine in a difficult position.  Twice-widowed, she has fallen in love the charming but impetuous Sir Thomas Seymour.  It seemed that she could at last marry for love instead of duty.  But the King’s sudden proposal has left her sorely conflicted.  Does she once again do her duty – or will matters of the heart prevail?

*****

I'm getting excited because it shouldn't be long now before we get back to Anne!!

Sharon I have heard about the festival in NY and would love to be able to attend sometime. We've only been to these two, but my husband and I would love to travel and do others as the children get older. It is like stepping back in time. We go in costume once a year and it's my favorite day. It's so much fun to just go back in time a bit for one day.
