How would you stop Anne marrying Henry?

How would you given the chance, knowing what would become of Anne marrying Henry, had 15 minutes to convince her not to go ahead with it?

I’m still puzzling how i would find the words. It’s something i wished would have happened.

Great question :)

I think like anyone in love, love really is blind unfortunately….if an angel falls in love with the devil in disguise, it’s very hard for one to convince the angel that she is making a huge (deadly) mistake.

If I had 15 minutes to tell Anne not to marry henry, I’d rely on the prophecy she saw with her head cut off and agree with her maid (‘Nan’) at the time to really look at the prophecy and run and not to risk her life! That prophecy book back in the time apparently was quite accurate!

Kind regards
Kaz.

I don’t know if there is anything that I could say to Anne that would make her run the other way. I would take her by the hand and say, “Beam us up, Scotty!” Wink
She would never believe that Henry would do what he did. She believed Henry loved her and no matter what he would never harm her. I would try though. I think I would tell her that Henry would destroy her and her family in a few short years. I’d let her know that she would not produce a son. She would have one girl child and no others. I’d tell her that Henry would kill George. That might change her mind.
I’d bet that she still would not listen. Nor would she trade her years as queen.

It’s a difficult thing isn’t it, wishing someone the best possible life yet they choose what they believe is the best possible life for themselves…..it’s just like our parents telling us not to go out with the ‘rich bad boy’ because we will get hurt – did we listen to our parents at the time? Did we get hurt like they said we would (LOL!)?

Sharon’s post sort of made me also think of Kate Middleton – I admire her as the days go on, I myself would by now be fed up with the press saying that my parents are commoners etc…..I would seriously consider breaking up, not because of love, but of the insane pressure and insults. It makes me realise what a truly tough journey Kate Middleton has had. I had a chat about this topic with my Mum, but even Mum said -“but look at how high Kate Middleton has reached – she is a Princess now!”…..but at what cost, much like Anne Boleyn, sure she was Queen, but at a severe cost to herself and her brother and her accused ‘lovers’. It would have been best for Anne not to meddle at all with the King to begin with, to go back to France as soon as he was coming on too strongly.

If only we could all go back in time and rescue Anne Boleyn. Yep, someone start making a time machine like Sharon suggests!

Totally agree with you Kaz, about kate. She is going to heading for pretty rough years ahead of her. Especially with the next heir to the throne about to be born. It will all be about getting those pictures of Kate and the baby and William too.
I would not be royalty for all the best things in the world. Your exceptionally right about kids not listening to their parents warning them they are walking straight into Disaster.
As for the commoner bit, if it is the common people moaning about it, then they should be proud Kate being one of us, despite her family being wealthy as reached high for herself, not for the sake of being princess or queen, but through old fashioned pure love for a man regardless he is royalty and he equally loves her back and not through some mouth watering dowry he would get like back in the pre arranged marriages. Her parents status has no effect on the public, so the people making those nasty remarks should back off and leave them all be.

Also, sharon makes a valid point. Would Anne give up the chance to be queen. To me, even though KOA was in the way of a great marriage to Anne, personally, seeing how Henry treated her KOA to get rid of her for me if i was in Anne’s shoes, it would have niggled in the back if my mind, i’m glimpsing a sight into my future being married to him. H8 is fickle and selfish and ruthless in having no thought or feeling for the person he wants rid of.

Maybe i would tell Anne to stop being to pig headed and stubborn for Queenship and say, look how he is treating KOA for your sake, look at the mistresses and how your sister was treated by him. What makes you think he won’t do the same. Your beautiful in mind and body, you have had no difficulty finding a match you deserve, think of Henry Percy, you will achieve that again via someone else. Walk away now and save yourself and your family from unknown danger.

Lovely comments Heidi Bullen :)

This is the article that just straight out peed me off about what ‘they’ keep saying about Kate Middleton and her past (maybe ‘they’ are the aristocratic side of the world who keep taunting Kate and her family because their rich daughters lost the chance to be Princess of England – they have the money to advertise etc etc):

I always thought it would be fabulous being part of the Royal family, but from an innocent point of view – the parties, the beautiful castles, the clothes one gets to wear, all the people you get to meet around the world. But no way ever did I ever think of the nasty politics behind it all and that totally ruined it for me – office politics is enough, image that sort of politics amplified 10000 times, wow!

I too almost innocently fell for the most horrible man on the universe – on the face of it he truly seemed to have it all – nice car, good job, well known parents and connections, but once the cracks in his personality started showing (for example he would make fun of a domestic violence ad playing in our town), and we realised it was happening consistently and getting more inappropriate, and then what the nicer (yes more commoner) people around town would say about him, one takes all of that finally into consideration and then one finally opens one’s eyes and sees what a monster one is with, and yep, one takes action really really fast and never looks back!! But he plays like henry – they catch the girls young and innocent because otherwise they would have no chance on earth. KOA was an arrangement yes.

Anyways we can’t wait for Kate and Wills to show their baby to the world – we’re soooooooo excited here in Australia!! Counting down the days as well!!! Yep, Kate is one of us and yep, it’s obvious she married for love, she went through just wayyyy too much and she looks incredibly strong (I would have given up in the paparazzi stage personally – “sorry Wills, just not used to this type of lifestyle, it’s too different”). All the best!!!!

Surprised Wow, they really like finding information that has no concerns to us and publish it. Especially hinting that William only started to like kate after he saw her on that catwalk in the barely there dress. That is being too personal and presumptuous on his behalf. It makes me squirm printing stuff like that.

To be honest, i think William will do a lot more to protect himself and his family from media vultures than of previous times. He knows what his mother went through and himself for being our next King, so i think his defences are up and rightly so. He won’t be afraid to tell the interfering people to go and lose themselves. (politer of course lol.)

I feel that if you told Anne that Henry was a complete git, and not worth the time of day let alone anything else she wouldn’t believe you and or/would believe that she could change him. The fact is that we really don’t know what Henry had told Anne about K.O.A, did he give Anne the usual speil like “My wife doesn’t understand me” blah blah blah, basically playing the poor bleeding Martyr. I would warn Anne of what she was letting herself in for, but I still think the conclusion would still have been the same. She would have married him and history would have been the same.

LOL, I love Boleyn’s comments, they are straight up honest, LOL!!!!!!!! We’d definitely get our heads chopped off back in henry’s kingdom, LOL!!!!!!! I’d be talking to you in the local pub of the 1500’s and some court ‘kiss-asser’ would have heard us and off we’d go to the Tower of London, LOL!!

Thank God for anonymous expression of speech over the internet from all areas of the world (and 500 years later, we’re safe!!! YAY!!) :) :)

Oh geez, how many times have us girls fallen for the -“I’ll give him the love he missed out on in his childhood” in our minds type of thinking when we thought we were in love (when actually yes, we were slowly being brainwashed!!)…..we cannot change the devil!!

Which on the other hand, sort of, in a twisted way, it makes me happy that Anne Boleyn used henry to get things she wanted later on in life, like prestige for her brother and father, I mean, who better to use than that loser!!

Anyanka, I had no clue this is what Sarah Ferguson went through too, I just barely know Diana’s story….

Laugh steveJ. I have been thinking, as much as i would have wanted to tell her to stop heading for disaster, Your all right here. Anne would have still gone on ahead and that would have frustrated me to insanity watching it all unravel.
