Spotted the NPG portrait of Anne Boleyn in the advert for David Starkey’s upcoming documentary, Kate and William: Romance and the Royals (Channel 4, Wed 27 April, 9pm).
The synopsis:
“In Kate and William: Romance and the Royals (w/t), Dr David Starkey will argue the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton is not the radical break with royal tradition that has been widely claimed. In fact, William's marriage to a ‘commoner' is a return to form for the British monarchy, and is the logical final step in a century-long process that has been gradually returning the British monarchy to its ancient roots. He will argue that despite much being made of her mother's former career as an air hostess, our potential future queen is in many ways a modern debutante, a 21st century version of William's own great-grandmother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon.”
Imagine Henry VIII’s marriage will be discussed briefly. Sounds dire, but I'll still end up watching it…

EDIT – The Hever portrait (just saw the ad again).
Anne Boleyn will definitely be discussed:
“Starkey points to similarities between the romance of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, and William and Kate, as both unions came about because of ‘shared educational and cultural experiences’. While Kate might want to run screaming from the palace if faced with that parallel, Starkey is more upbeat. He argues that we should celebrate a return to the sort of royal ‘love matches’ that did exist as far back as the 14th century – and which allowed for social mobility – but which were eradicated in more recent times.”
