Has anyone read any of the Six Wives series by Laurien Gardner?  I recently found the three that have been written so far on sale for dirt cheap and couldn't resist buying them.  I wasn't disappointed!  The first one I found was actually Plain Jane, obviously about Jane Seymour.  It's written in her perspective and tells her story from her point of view, loosely following actual history.  Even though it's only fiction, I really sympathized with Jane more after reading it.  Later, to my delight, I found The Spanish Bride and A Lady Raised High, about Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn, respectively.  Both of these are written from the perspective of loyal ladies-in-waiting.  I recommend these to anyone who loves a good fictional novel. Thanks, Hannah, Laurien Gardner's “A Lady Raised High”, is on my “to read” list so I really must get round to reading it. Do you fancy doing a book review for the site? I'm cheeky aren't I?! Wink

HannahL, Thanks for the referrals.  I have just read The Spanish Bride and A Lady Raised High.  Loved them both.  Got them dirt cheap, too.  Plain Jane will be my next purchase.  Right now I am reading Joanna Denny's Anne Boleyn.  So many books so little time.

I have found A Lady Raised High a while ago, and yes, again it was dirt cheap. Although I wonder why. Yes, I admit it wasn't anything too unusual, since the story of Anne has been written in both her own perspective and that of others, many many times. But nevertheless,I found it an entertaining read.Told from the perspective of Frances Pierce, a daughter of a minor nobleman. She comes to court after shielding Anne from an angry mob, and the rest is her perspective on Anne's rise and fall, with a bit of Frances's own private life thrown in. I recommend it to all you Anne fans Laugh4/5

I just read A Lady Raised High about a month ago, and I really liked it. In my opinion, it wasn't an astonishing read, not the best Anne fiction, but still quite good. It showed Anne as a persuasive person who sometimes let down her guard, instead of scary and opposing, and I liked how at first Frances was prejudiced against Anne but she grew to love her.

Just wanted to add, I looked Laurien Gardner up on Google and I believe it's a pseudonym (sp?) so she might have more books than we know of.

Yes, Laurien Gardner is a pseudonym of a group of female authors. I heard the real name of the author of the 'A Lady Raised High' is Jennifer Ashely.

If it is a group of authors, it would explain the differing dates of Henry's succesion.
