OMG!!!  THIS was the show that got me interested in Tudor history in the first place – and English history in general come to think of it! Sad I know, but I just loved Miranda Richardson as Elizabeth I (and especially her dress – its still one of my faves!)  It used to be on after my bedtime but my brother used to tape it and I got up early the next morning and watched it before I went to school.  A year later we went to England and I can still remember how excited I was to visit Elizabeth's tomb in Westminster Abbey!!!!  Aaaah, good times!

I can probably still quote whole swathes of dialogue if pressed…. Wink

I LOVE Blackadder! And Queenie in particular. I can boast being able to quote large sections of many episodes, (and Monty Python too lol), at random occasions! I just love the thought of Queen Elizabeth I saying, “I want to get to the reception so I can get squiffy and seduce someone” 😀

Ha ha yes I too seem to be able to quote most of the episodes, although cant believe its that that got you into Tudor history…thats amazing! Imagine if Elizabeth really was like that, saying every few minutes…”and now i'm going to cut your head off”

Genius!

Yeah Blackadder and Robin of Sherwood were two of my favourite TV shows!

And you're right Beth – Queenie rocks!  “I think I'll have you executed just to see the expression on your face”  Ha ha, wonder who she got the homicidal tendencies from?!  Laugh

Totally recommend getting all four seasons on DVD!

Blackadder was on air even on French TV, but I was too young to understand everything, too bad… It was aired on an channel which is considered as “intellectual” and serious, how ironc!

Laugh Just started watching Blackadder again (Netflix on Demand) after way too many years. Season 2 and Season 3 were my favorites!

Henry: Mistress Anne, will you teach the king of England how they dance in the French court?
Anne: There is nothing that France can teach England, your majesty.
King Henry VIII: Well said. Well said.

I looooooooooove Blackadder, and have to say that Rowan looked so good the the Elizabethan one. And Queenie is so cool. I love the way she often says 'Who's the Queen?' whenever anyone even slightly disagrees with her. And Nursey is hilarious too. Great team all round.

Do you remember when Baldric was going to be bridesmaid when Edmund was getting married to Kate (Bob) and Percy fancied him!!!! Sooo funny.Laugh

My Hubby and I watch it all the time on the UKGOLD channel.

Lord Flash was Brilliant – and then Edmund had to marry the Bridesmaid Ha Ha!!

Another good one was when they were short of cash and they sent Baldric out to prostitution, and he was standing on the street corner with a sign saying, 'GET IT HERE'. Then a sailor came along and didn't have enough money (I think he only had tuppence or something like that) So they decided to tell him a story instead!!

Classic stuffLaugh

Very tempted now to order the dvd boxed set. The only series I felt was a little weaker was the first one. Still very good though.Smile

I quite liked the first series, not my favourite (dare I say it, but that's probably the third!) but it definitely had it moments.  We all know now who really killed Richard III!!!
