(Thought I had joined previously but obviously had not). Hi everyone! I have followed this site for some time, and was fortunate to provide a post on Anne Boleyn’s coronation route. I’m from the UK – South Gloucestershire, which Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn visited in 1535. I have just finished my MA and this autumn will be starting my PhD which will focus on religious conservatives at the courts of Henry VIII and Edward VI. So not on Anne Boleyn, but obviously concerning her.
I have been interested in Anne Boleyn since primary school, but it has only been over the last couple of years that I have started to focus upon her – and the court of her lifetime – in much depth. One of the major bonuses for me has been handling original source material connected to her, including the dispensation drawn up by Cranmer that allowed Henry VIII to marry Jane Seymour (issued on the day Anne died; poor Anne!)
I have a Flickr page where I post images relating to the period, including portraits of, and documents associated with, Anne:
Looking forward to posting here!

Welcome Nasim!
Congratulations on completing your MA and starting a PhD this fall. I too just finished my MA and have applied to schools for fall acceptance into a PhD program. I study anthropology with an emphasis on coastal communities, Scotland, the oil/gas industry and environmental and economic theory.
The Anne Boleyn files is a great place with fantastic people. I love it here and come way too often!
I've been to the Uk several times, but never made it to Gloucester. The next time I visit the UK, I hope to explore parts of Gloucester and other parts of the west country.
I look forward to reading your posts.

Thank you and congrats on your MA!
I would definitely recommend a trip to Gloucestershire. I grew up about 5mins from Thornbury Castle, a fabulous place to visit and where Anne stayed in 1535. There is also Berkeley Castle nearby and Acton Court, where she also stayed. Gloucester Cathedral is also lovely.

Greetings! Glad you finally decided to join us! How amazing that you have gotten to have access to such awesome primary resources! I'm always glad when people join who have a serious background in history in general and Tudor history in particular. My particular background isn't in history, but the best stuff in history is all the messy stuff and it doesn't get much messier than H8 and his wives.
I've only had the opportunity to visit England twice, and both times I didn't make it really any farther than London, but I've told my husband that I want to retire to England. We're a long way from that, though.
Best of luck on your PhD (I love education, but I had to call it quits after my Masters–besides, I'm a teacher, I pretty much live and breathe education).

Hey Nasim!
Congrats on your MA and good luck with your PhD!
I love your blog and work on Mary (I check it out pretty regularly!) and the struggles she faced as Englands first female ruler are always fascinating to read about.
I've been lucky enough to get to England twice, the first time we went to Gloucester but I was only ten and sorry to say I don't remember a heck of a lot about it! But that trip was when I first fell in love with the Tudors (especially Anne!) Need to start seriously saving so I can go back!!!!!!
Anyway, looking forward to your posts!

Welcome Nasim and good luck on you PhD. Which university are you studying at?
Thank you everyone!
I will be going to Bristol University. However I did my MA at King’s College London, under the supervision of David Crankshaw and Lucy Wooding (whose biography on Henry VIII is a good read!)

Hi Nasim,
I don't need to welcome you to The AB Files but welcome to the forum, I look forward to your input. We used to live in Moreton-in-Marsh, Glos, and it really is a beautiful county.
Thank you Claire!
BTW – love the idea of the new history site. I would love to contribute. I have some stuff on Mary Tudor and on the court of Henry VIII that I focused on in my MA that I don’t mind posting if it is of interest to anyone?
