- Luxury Pine Green Lamour Bridal Satin with the undersleeves and front gore of Satin Brocade
- Plush Triple Velvet oversleeves, made extra long just like Natalie’s dress
- A Skirt circumference of over 200 inches so it can be worn with the fullest hoop slip (pictures taken with a 5 hoop)
- Extra boning used in front to provide the same “look” as the film (8 pieces of boning in the front, 4 on the sides (2 on each side) and 2 in the back for a total of 14)
- Corset Grade Grommets for the back lacing
- Elastic Waist with Toggle to adjust fit so that you can enjoy a full-on banquet!

- Filigrees and stones set on Black Velvet at the top of the bodice

This is a special order item and so does not fit into our flat rate shipping fees - please choose your shipping service. The use of "Hoods" in general had been used in England for years - but it is believed that Henry VIII's second wife and Elizabeth I's mother, Anne Boleyn brought the FRENCH Hood style of headwear back to England following her service at the court of the French King. Over the years - the styles of the Hood in England changed through the Tudor and Elizabethan Era.
This hood is handmade by Kris in the US. Due to its size, the hood cannot be sent by standard first class within the US. Shipping costs are in addition to our standard $3 domestic US and $4.50 international rates.

Beautiful work.
I just had a question about the Pembroke dress.
In person, is the dress a bit darker? Or is it that bright of red?
Thanks.
Emily xx.
Hi Emily,
I am waiting for my dress to arrive but Kris says “It’s hard to describe but it is darker than cherry red and lighter then a crimson red. If you have a set of crayola crayons the color that comes the closest is called brick red”. I think the photo does make it look brighter. See crayola at http://www.crayola.com/colorcensus/americas_favorites/display.cfm?color=43 to get an idea.
Okay. Thank you very much!
I was curious if it was as dark as it is on the show or not.
Hi Emily,
It was the closest match that Kris could find and it is hard to show the colour in photos with lighting and also different computer screens will show it differently – she keeps a pack of crayola crayons just so she can tell people what shade a material is!
Thanks!
I have a question about made-to-measure gowns. If (actually it’s probably more like when!) I order one I would ideally like it to fit my corseted waist, which is about 4 or 5 inches thinner than my normal waist. However, that could throw up a problem of getting it on and off over my head or up over my hips. I’m assuming the dresses do up with zip or lacing at the back. Would Kris be able to make it so that I could get it on over my hips even if the waist was tiny?
I know what I mean, but I don’t know if I’ve explained it very well!
I know what you mean, don’t worry, I always have that concern because of my boobs!! Like traditional Tudor costume, the made-to-measure dresses come in two parts – skirt and bodice. The skirt has an adjustable elastic toggle waist which is made to the measurements you give but being elastic has “give” to get over hips or head, whichever way you put it on. You put it on and then adjust the toggle to fit. This is nice because it means that it doesn’t matter if you put on/lose a bit of weight or you eat a big dinner! The bodice laces can be completely loosened so that you can get it easily over your head and then you will need a friend to lace you up nice and tight. Kris will need your measurements in the underwear which you are planning to wear under your dress so these would be your corseted measurments.
I’ve been trying on my dress and I feel completely transformed when I put it on – from Mum to Queen in one easy step! I’ve just got to decide which shoes I’m wearing with it and get it hemmed and then I’ll get some photos taken. I can say that Kris’s workmanship is amazing, the dress is beautiful and the boning is brilliantly done, you get a wonderful Tudor shape.
Anyway, hope that helps!
Oh, I hadn’t thought of boobs. They do get in the way, don’t they!
I’m hanging on for the time being to see what other wonders Kris comes up with, but that’s good for future reference. I’m looking forward to seeing your photos!
That does help, thank you
I have a question about dressing for the dinners at Hever during the tour. I’ll be traveling alone. Hopefully one of the ladies will be able to lace me into my dresses?
I’d be happy to help you Nancy so don’t worry, I’ll lace you and you can lace me!
Thanks, Claire! I have the Tudors dress from Showtime and I still don’t know exactly how it looks on me fully laced! I’ll be seeing some friends on Friday night for dinner, and I asked one of them to take my measurements for the Pembroke and Execution dresses, so I’ll soon be ordering them. I might take my dress with me and have her lace it up so I can see how it looks!
I love the neckline on these dresses but I looked up corsets and bodices and they both change over time. If you lace up the dress, does this provide enough support? I can’t think of a bra that would work with such a neckline. I ordered a cheap gown and the neckline is much higher up, so you can wear a bra, but this is a poor imitation compared to what Kris does. Do you need a slip too?
Hi lisaannejane,
Here’s Kris’s answer:-
“The dresses that are designed and based on the “The Tudors” show do indeed have lower bodice lines as that is the way they designed for the show. You are correct that wearing a bra would not be possible. However, if worn correctly the bodice would be tightly laced and your breasts would be “flattened” providing support and pushing you up. There is boning in the front which provides support. The other gowns (non – “The Tudors Show”) have higher fronts. If any customers are concerned about support I would highly recommend using a corset. This will provide more support and give you the “pushed” up look. As far as a slip goes, the dresses are made so that if you want to wear a hoop slip you can – Anne did not wear one on the show – but I have made the dresses with extra gores so that if you want to wear one you can.”
Speaking from my own experience with the Pembroke Dress, you don’t really need a corset as it has so much boning in it and you don’t need a bra either as it does exactly what Kris says and makes you look like you’re out of the Tudors! You get the flattened pushed up look and you can adjust the lacing to give you the look you want. My Pembroke Dress looks fine without a hoop or slip. Hope that helps!
Claire
HEY CLAIRE,
Since I can’t make the May trip my husband was kind enough to say I could buy 2 dresses (don’t worry I would have gotten them with or without his permission!) What I need to know is how much extra is Kris charging for us ‘plus size girls’ and are all the dresses (or any) available in plus sizes?
Thanks, Tracy
Hi Tracy,
Kris does not charge more for plus sizes. Her only restriction is that she can’t make patterns for bust sizes larger than 52 inches as they just don’t work. Hope that helps!
That’s sweet of your husband but I would have loved to have met you on the tour!
Claire x
Claire and Kris, thanks so much for the info. about the fit. I actually wore a waist cincher for about 5 months to help get over a back injury. You can’t slouch in one of those and it does improve your posture, but the way you describe the bodice, you don’t need one. I must start a dress fund.
Truely amazing dresses, would like too see maybe Anne Boleyn’s wedding dress we saw on The Tudors as we didn’t see much of that in the show.
Sophie x
The TOBG dress you have shown here is bottle green rather than the emerald green colour of the dress in the film. Any chance you could make the dress in an emerald green? It’s so much prettier and eye catching.
Hi! was wondering if you were going to do any of the other dresses in the poll. I love the blue dress she wears.
But also if you were going to attempt any others of hers, some of my favorites are ones she only wears a few times and are less important…
Thanks!
Nic
lovely dresses, high price DARN!!!!
Hi Holly,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, the prices of the dresses may seem high but they aren’t “off the peg” dresses, they are custom-made to your very own measurements (apart from the Showtime dress) and are also made with quality material and added touches like boning in the bodices to give the right Tudor look. Kris has done everything she can to make dresses at a price that’s fair for the customer and for her, the seamstress. We are able to offer the Value Traditional Tudor gown at $160 because Kris was able to buy some fabric in bulk at a special price so we have passed that saving on to the customer.
I hope that explains it.
Hi Meinir,
Kris purposely chose a darker green because in asking people about the shade of green most people said that the emerald green was too bright. She is happy to make it in emerald green too if you’d like.
Thanks,
Claire
Hi npmoore,
Kris is working on finding the right fabric for the yellow and blue dresses from the poll at the moment and is always open to ideas or custom orders too.
Thanks x
Hi Claire. Do you think Kris could make the dress that Natalie wears on The Tudors, during Katherine of Aragon’s death celebration? That is my favorite dress that I can think of….so I was just wondering…Oh, or the one she wears when she begs Henry???
I love the dresses and was just wondering if Kris makes her own patterns. I make my own clothes sometimes, from store bought patterns, but have no experience in making patterns. I’m trying to design my own Tudor themed gown, does Kris have any advice on the subject?
Does anyone know if the has been a replica made of the deep crimsen red dress Natalie Dormer wears as Anne Boleyn from the Christmas episode in season2 E2 . I’m also interested in finding a replica of the yellow dress she wears after Catherine dies in S2 E7. Sames goes for the dress in S2 E6 while Anne is at a feast for the French Embassador. THANK YOU for bringing these fashions to life!!!
I have a question about the support in the boobs (we’re all girls on here, lol) and I am very slim because I recently lost over 60 lbs and now weigh 120-122 lbs. I plan on buying the Execution dress (because I am in love with it and if I have the money I want to get the Pembroke Dress as well) but my boobs got extremely smaller than they used to, since I lost all my weight. I do not want to wear a corset with my dress (because My corset doesn’t fit anymore, which sucks cause it’s playboy and brand new). I want to get my boobs to be pushed up and have that look like in “The Tudors” I am wearing a 34 B (american size BRA) and I was wondering if I could get that look with the Execution Dress. If someone could help me out with this I would be extremely grateful.
DEAR CLAIR: THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS WEBSITE IT IS SO WONDERFUL
DEAR KRIS: EVERYTHING YOU MAKE FOR THIS WEBSITE IS COMPLETELY BEAUTIFUL AND I PLAN ON BUYING AS MUCH AS I CAN, THANK YOU BOTH FOR DOING SUCH WONDERFUL JOBS!
-Courtnie-
Hello again, my name is Courtnie and I had a question that I have asked before and did not get an answer to, I understand that you are very busy and cannot read every comment posted especially when they are a whole bunch of “ooh pretty dresses” over and over, lol. But I lost about 60 lbs since last summer and my boobs shrunk from 38 C to 34 B. I do not want to wear a corset and I was wondering if I get my boobs to look like they do in the gowns like the Tudors, will that be okay or possible?
-Courtnie-
Hi Courtnie,
Apologies for not replying to your comment sooner but I don’t work full-time at weekends and tend to leave comments until Monday to deal with. I will ask Kris for her opinion, as she is the costume expert, and then I’ll get back to you.
Thanks,
Claire
Hi Courtnie,
I’ve spoken to Kris about your concerns regarding “uplift” and getting the Tudor look and she would recommend purchasing a really good strapless push up bra if you don’t want to use a corset. Strapless is better because the dresses are almost off-shoulder. With that kind of bra and adjusting the lacing of the dresses to suit (they are boned and have lacing at the back) you should get the look you require. Hope that helps!
Claire
Yes that helps a lot. Thank you so much for helping me out and making this amazing website, and Thank Kris for me for giving me advice. I am also sorry if I seemed impatient I thought I had posted the first comment like 3 days before i posted the second one. I didn’t notice till it was already posted.
What is your favorite “Anne Boleyn Look”?
-Courtnie-
Hi Courtnie,
Don’t worry, I know what it’s like when you desperately want an answer to your question. We’re always happy to help. What is my favourite Anne Boleyn look? Wow, that’s a tricky one! I really love the Pembroke Dress because of the scene it was used in, with it being such a happy event in Anne’s life, and I also love the TOBG green dress, such a vivid green. There are so many dresses I love.
I love the Pembroke Dress SO MUCH!!!! lol. But my husband won’t let me spend very much on one. He’s not into the whole Anne Boleyn thing, and thinks its stupid that I wear the Anne Boleyn “B” Necklace, that i got from parrishrelics.com before I found this website and t’s made to look antique, but I wear it everyday. He thinkd its stupif of me to want to buy one of these. But i don’t care. I always get what I want, ha ha. The other dress I like is the Execution Dress and the style of Anne Boleyn goen (but that one does not have any boning) Plus there is a headdress I really love that matches the dress. I also love Anne Boleyn cause she was crowned Queen June 1, 1990 and 407 years June 1, 1990 I was born. I had no clue until I was already in love with her.
Anouther dress I really like that ain’t on here is the one Anne Boleyn wears when she is with Henry (in Season 1`of the Tudors, ep. 5) where Henry and Anne visit walsey it has this beautiful fabric and it simply gorgeous.
