Henry was many things, but I haven’t read anything so far that would lead me to believe he hit his wives. (and I hope I never do. He’s on my list for so many other violations against his wives, that hitting them would be just one too many faults for me.) There are stories about how Henry and Anne fought verbally, but I’ve never read that he hit her. They knocked each other out with their words. The only one I have ever read about in this time period who hit his wife was Norfolk.
