Being Will Somers would have been an intersting position to be in and having intimate knowledge of the King's inner sanctum.

I would want to be someone ineffectual and unnoticed. A person who has the ability to weave through the levels of Henry's court, to meet famous (or infamous) members of the aristocracy, and to come face-to-face with Anne and Henry.

The main stipulation for me would be able to come back to the present era. As much as I love Tudor history, I am not sure how long I could go without my favourite modern amentites.

Probably Thomas Moore as I admire his intellect, what a character he must have been.
I think his knowledge and foresight was way ahead of his time, what conversations he must have had. His resolve and character truly shone through those times.

I'd have to say Charles Brandon. You get the inside scoop to everything and for the longest, plus keep your head. 🙂

Probably Mary Boleyn, it would be interesting to see what Henry was like in his younger days I guess, and you could also observe the court from a distance.

I bet Mary could find out loads of information about Henry and his court, as she could just sit and flutter her eyelashes without anyone suspecting that she would understand or be interested in what they were talking about… I bet that is exactly what she did, and no one realised how smart she actually was! I like the quote in 'Wolf Hall' by Hilary Mantel.. 'Mary Boleyn might look like a doll, but she's not stupid!'

So yeah, I guess I could probably get some answers to my questions about life in the Tudor Court if I spent a weekend as Mary Boleyn, and hopefully I'd get to take part in a court masque while I was there

So I've been thinking long and hard about who I would be and why. And I finally thought of someone and a decent reason, so I rush over here only to discover that it has to be at King Henry's court not just Tudor times. Bugger. While my person does fit into Henry's court my reasoning exists after Henry's death. Since I was so excited to think of one, I'll share anyway. My apologies for not actually sticking to the theme.

I would go back and be Kind Edward VI on his deathbed. My reasoning for this is as follows. Knowing what happens down the path of history I wouldn't change the succession, I would make Edward strong enough to resist Nothumberland's demands. I would let Mary inherit the throne and then Elizabeth after that. That way the innocent line of Henry's will is spared a lot of heartbreak, a lot of misfortune and many unneccasry deaths. Of course there is the assumption that Mary's reign will play out exactly the same way without the influence of the Jane dilemma. And that Elizabeth's regin would still be great. It would be nice for Edward to know that yes his reforms may need to be put on pause for a few years but not to fear for his other sister will bring in the reforms he so desperantly wants for England.

Anyone want to be Henry? No one ever chooses him.  Poor fellow.

Since i’m only going to be this person for a weekend, I don’t have to worry about hte sticky end they eventually made and can just enjoy the better parts of their life. I thimk I’m going to choose Catherine of Aragonduring a weekend in her first few years of marriage to Henry.
