Was just thinking, if showtime were to do another series of 'The Tudors' covering the stories of Edward/Mary/Elizabeth, then who would you like to star in it?

Personally I think Emily Blunt would be a good choice for Elizabeth I and Clive Owen as Robert Dudley

Hehe, it's funny you started this thread Claire-Louise as I was contemplating something similar. My thought though was of wishing they continued the series for 2 more seasons.

Season 5 – Would cover the reign of Edward, death of Edward, Jane the Quene and ending with Mary taking the throne.

Season 6 – Would cover Jane's execution and Mary's reign and with it finishing just before the start of Cate Blanchett's Elizabeth

That way we would have a nice link between this series and the Elizabeth movies which share the same writer. And then I would pull out Disc 2 of Helen Mirren's Elizabeth I to find out how Elizabeth's reign concluded.

The only problem with my scenario, is that Jane doesn't exist in The Tudor Universe due to the merging of Henry's sisters.

Well i thought the Elizabeth actress in the Tudors (older version) was good. She kinda looked like the young Elizabeth in that one painting where she wears the coral pinkish gown.

I kind of invision a younger Christina Ricci (spell check?) as Mary.

Does Mary Queen of Scots? Because that would take away a good half of Lizzy's reign.

It's always bunnies.

Pretty sure Mary, Queen Of Scots cannot exist in the Tudors universe. Now that you mention it, I think technically Jane can cause Brandon still marries Henry's sister so she could still technically appear. But yes Mary, Queen Of Scots cannot exist. But that's solved, by ending the series where I suggestee and moving into the 2 movies cause then it could be wiped away as a brain fart.

Kinda silly the show removing the Scottish line in Henry's family. Cause technically who the hell inherits the Tudor throne after Elizabeth if James cannot exist?

Exactly. 'Let's wipe out the Stuart line because we can't have 2 princess Mary's on set as it will confuse people.  So Henry only has one sister called Margaret but she will live the life of his other sister Mary. Except she will marry the King of Portugal instead of France. And murder him. And no one marries James IV so Mary Queen of Scots never existed'  To me that was way more confusing than having 2 people called Mary on set.

I think that's the thing that annoys me the most about The Tudors. Well that and the fact they didn't cast Steven Waddington as Henry. lol.

Yes that actress in the Tudors was brilliant for Elizabeth, she looked exactly how I have always imagined a young Elizabeth to look

She grew on me- I would be happy to see anyone play the lead- so long as they get the story right! And as it's The Tudors, they wont get much wrong- not like the horrific script for Elizabeth with Cate Blanchette- Christ, what was the point?! Lets make Elizabeth I's life boring and not make any sence. Great- good job.

Emily Blunt would be a great Elizabeth. Some times I see people, just random people, and I think to myself: “Thats what Elizabeth would look like”. They all have red gold hair, high cheekbones, deep set eyes, fair eyebrows. I can never work up the courage to tell them tho.

I always thought Samantha Weinstein would make a good young Elizabeth and Christina Hendricks would make a good young Mary.

The only problem with this statement is the guy wrote Elizabeth wrote the scripts for The Tudors. That's why I think 2 seasons to bridge the gap between The Tudors and Elizabeth would have worked perfectly.

Oh, I would love it so much if they made two or three extra seasons. I would definitely want Sarah Bolger to reprise her role as Mary again, she was wonderful. Maybe Amy Adams could pull of the role of Elizabeth, or Emily Blunt. I would also love to see Mary Stuart in it, maybe portrayed by someone like… Leighton Meester. Yes, I’m a Gossip Girl fan, ha ha.

Anne Boleyn: just a strong woman with incredible dignity who lived in an era that didn't approve of that.

You aren’t on your own there Vivian a lot of us would like to see how Mary’s reign would be played out. I would also like to see just how they would portray the scenes between Elizabeth and Tom Seymour, would they have Tom rape Elizabeth? or woud they see her going to bed with him of her own volution. Given how Elizabeth was portryed in the series as a cold ad uncaring sort of girl I rather think they would play out the former side of things.
Edwards reign could probably be covered in 2 or may 3 episodes at the most, and of course Lady jane I suppose could be 2 episodes. Mary’s I think could be 4 maybe 5 episodes and Elizabeth’s the full 6. Maybe more.
I guess the only way we can get showtime to do this series is to keep nagging them.
