Well my parents have decided (with a little persuasion from myself Wink) to get another puppy, and next saturday I am going with them to put a deposit on a beautiful little black Scottish Terrier Smile

As it will be the 19th of May, Anne Boleyn Day! I’ve decided it would be lovely to have his name in some way related to a Tudor Figure (unfortunately I can’t call him Anne lol) Has anyone got any ideas?

He’s only five weeks old and we can’t take him home until his 8 weeks so I have some time to think about his name Smile

Why not Tudor?

Let us show them that they are hares and foxes trying to rule over dogs and wolves - Boudica addressing the tribes Circa AD60

I always thought George was a lovely name for a dog. Not to slight any George’s past and present. I just think its a good dog name.

Did you say whether it was a girl or boy?….
Eddie? (for H8’s son Edward)
Liza or Lizzy? (For Elizabeth I)
Boleyn? Maybe?
Hal? (Didn’t people used to call H8 ‘Hal’?)

• Grumble all you like, this is how it’s going to be.

What about Wyatt, for Thomas Wyatt?
Or Wriothesley (pronounced Risley?) Sorry, I’m reading Hilary Mantel at the moment Laugh
Or Rochford?
Pembroke, for Anne’s title as Marquis?
And I like Maggyann’s suggestion of just Tudor!

Wolsey, Cramner, or Cromwell. Mya Elise’s suggestion is a good one too. Hal, it’s short, sweet and to the point.

When we get our two cats (We are waiting till our daughter is a little older and less likely to terrorise them) we are going to call one Boleyn and the other Urien Wink

"It is however but Justice, & my Duty to declre that this amiable Woman was entirely innocent of the Crimes with which she was accused, of which her Beauty, her Elegance, & her Sprightliness were sufficient proofs..." Jane Austen.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone… George is a lovely name for a Scottie actually, and Rochford works too. I like Tudor but I think it would suit a bigger dog such as a German Shepard rather than a terrier.

Here are what my family and I came up with so far;

Dudley, after Sir Robert Dudley (after Anne’s time I know)
Douglas: like Lady Margaret Douglas
Brandon: Charles Brandon
Howard: After the Howard family

If the names are based on the Tudors, can you get away with naming animals ‘Betrayal’ and ‘Injustice’?

I quite like Rochford because you could call him Rochie for short and that sounds very terrier-like.

I am loving reading all these, the ones your family and everyone elses has come up with so far are great, how about another one Sussex, for Lord Sussex or Buckingham, (shame they both lost their heads though)Laugh

So I went to see the little guy today and we’ve decided to call him Douglas Smile

When we get the paperwork through with his Kennel Club registration I will probably fill in the form to change his registered name; he is going to be either Trakside (kennel name) Douglas Boleyn or Lord Rochford (i’ve got to decide what will sound better in the show-ring Wink)

He is so cute!!!

Has anyone else on here got any pets named after famous Tudors? or historical figures?

I suppose if you were going to have the dog neutered you could name it Henry!

Lord Rochford sounds like the perfect show ring name.
