Just wondering if you guys and gals have got any recommendations for history magazines. My top two recommendations are:-

  1. Herstoria \”History that puts woman in her place\” – This magazine has only just started and I love it. In the Summer 2009 issue it's got a great article on \”where are the women historians on TV\” which explores this issue and the comment that David Starkey has just made about the \”feminisation\” of history. Other articles include \”Women and the workhouse\”, \”18th century manners and morals\”, \”Women and Christianity\”, \”What did the Descent of Man mean for woman?\” and many others. Find out more at http://www.herstoria.com/index.html
  2. BBC History Magazine – The BBC History Magazine has been going for years and has a readership of around 215,000 worldwide and always has great articles by top rate historians. See http://www.bbchistorymagazine.com for info.

Does anyone else know of a good history magazine?

I don't know about other magazines, but just fyi the BBC History Magazine has a free podcast you can get off iTunes that gives their top headlines for the month, and they go in-depth into one or two stories with live interviews and stuff.  You should check it out.

Thanks, Melissa, that's a great tip. For others who are interested the BBC History Magazine podcast page is at http://www.bbchistorymagazine……odcast.asp and their podcasts are also on iTunes. If you don't have an iPod, there are links to the MP3 files on the link I've just given.
