I have long resisted watching this movie all the way through but I noticed it flagged up for me on Netflix because I’d watched Dr Who…

So here goes…

Plase note I have never seen the BBC production neither

Histroical inaccuracies aside..it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.

The acting wasn’t convincing at times and the script lacked fluency and sometimes felt flat to me.

Not an epic film by my standards but 5/10…

It's always bunnies.

Oh it was too as bad as you thought it was going to be. It was horrible. After all this time, what possessed you? Were you bored? 5 is too high a score. Wink

Anyanka have you sought medical attention yet? Or did you just have the little men in white coats on stand by?
I must admit that of the 2 films made the second one is marginally better than the first, but only by a whisker.

I’ve stated before when I first watched the movie, I loved it thought it was wonderful. Then I read the book and re-watched the movie And realised how terrible an adaptation was. Ignoring the historical inaccuracies of the movie (because that’s really the books fault), I swear the script was an original script and then for marketing purposes (and legal reasons) they decided to slap on the title The Other Boleyn Girl. The one big plus I will say about the film is Natalie Portman’s portrayal of Anne at her execution. Throughout the movie, I hate the character of Anne and in a way I was looking forward to her getting her just desserts, but then when dessert was served I felt major empathy for the character of Anne, and that can only be because of the wonderful acting skills of Portman during that scene. I actually ended up hoping Anne wouldn’t die. I feel this movie initially started off wanting to be serious but then they decided that it was just a silly soap opera and decided to rush through everything. I think that’s my biggest issue with the movie, is that it rushes through the (inaccurate) history far too quickly.

My least favorite of all the inaccuracies was when they had Anne marry then divorce Henry Percy only to then be exiled in France!

Lady Princess I believe that was portrayed only in the first film. The one with the never ending squeeky gate etc…

Do you mean the BBC version? I haven’t seen that one yet. The scenes I was describing was in the recent Other Boleyn Girl movie.

For me the thing that saved the recent movie from being totally terrible was Mark Rylance incredible acting as well as Ana Torrent who played Catherine of Aragon! Both were, to me, outstanding in their roles!

It flagged up for you on Netflix because you’d watched Dr Who? I’m confused.

Also I am mentally blocking out any memories of that film. I think I actually watched it before I read the book, and read the book to see if it was better.
