Hi!

I'm Claire, creator of The Anne Boleyn Files and here is a little information about me:-

I'm a freelance writer with a love of (or complete obsession with!) Anne Boleyn and Tudor history. I am a Brit – you may have noticed this – and grew up just a few miles from Stratford-upon-Avon with its wonderful Tudor houses, Royal Shakespeare theatre, Shakespeare's birthplace and lovely river. Until August 2006, I was living in the Cotswolds, again just 20 minutes from Stratford, but then moved to Southern Spain with my gorgeous husband, Tim, and three fab kids. I love the Spanish sun and laid back way of life but do miss the historical sites of England but I've still got lots of friends and family to visit there. I do live near the Alhambra though!

This website is the result of me waking up in the middle of the night in February this year, shaking Tim awake, and announcing that I needed to get the truth out about Anne Boleyn. I was so fed up with people believing what is said about her in novels and on the TV and I wanted to find out more about her and spread the news. I even knew that night what I was going to call the site – it's a bit like The X Files, you know, \”the truth is out there\”!

Anyway, that's me – Tudor addict, writer, mum and a Brit abroad!

I just want to say thank you to everyone who takes time to comment, writes me emails, leaves questions, posts on the forum, orders from the shop, forgives my ramblings etc etc. I really feel that we've made this site into a great community and it's all down to you guys. Thank you so much xx

It's a pleasure,Meg, this website is my passion and I love working on it. It's so nice to get people's feedback and thank you so much for your appreciation, I'd still run it even if nobody ever visited it!

I think my husband and children do have a lot to put up with though as I talk quite a lot about Tudor history. I was making gingerbread men the other day with my kids and one of the heads came off accidentally when we were cutting them out – \”It's Anne Boleyn!\” shouted my 6 year old! Oh dear!

Thanks for posting on the forum, it's fairly new so it's nice to see people joining and posting.

Hi Claire and everyone else!  My name on the board is gwenne, my real -life name is Anita.  (gwenne is my cat). I'm 44 yrs. old, a single mother and grandmother.  I live in the states, Florida's east coast and love life in the sun!  Have a great job at a yacht club and ride my horse in my spare time.    I've always had a particular interest in the Tudor era of history, particularly Queen Anne Boleyn.  I've only recently started really digging into history, myth, and legend about Anne.  My curiosity was peaked about her as I was doing a personal project on women charged with witchcraft throughout history.  While I don't believe for a second that Anne was a witch, a sorcerer, or anything else along those lines, I was fascinated with the fact that she is the very key that brought Protestanism to the British Isles.  This very act changed the course of Western and modern history forever.  I also have come to believe that without Anne Boleyn Britain would have never known a Golden Age and Reformation.  This woman who has been forever by biased history is in fact one of the most influential individuals that ruled in the monarchy.  Anway, Claire, wonderful site fabulous idea, and I'm glad to see categories change frequently.  Thank you so much for putting this together.

Hello everyone!

My name is Sabrina. I live here in sunny california, although the weather has been weird lately.. LOL

I am a self-professed Tudor addict. I read everything I can on it. Anne Boleyn is one of my all time favorite women, and I'm glad that people are finally seeing the truth about her, rather than what people said about her to slander her.

I have a fiancee, and two kids, one who is autistic. I am currently a student, going for my degree in Computer Information Systems…

Claire – Thanks for putting up this website and forum.. I think it's awesome.

Hi Gwenne and Sabrina,

Thanks for your appreciation of the website, as you know I absolutely love running The Anne Boleyn Files so love seeing it grow.

You both sound incredibly busy people so thanks for taking the time to comment on posts and take part in the forum.

It's interesting to find out where people are from. I've never been to the States – never been out of Europe! – but one day I will.

Good luck with your course, Sabrina, and have you set a wedding date?

Thanks again for being so active on The Anne Boleyn Files x

Thanks!

We haven't set a date yet, but we are shooting for next  year. I'm going to get my Tudor wedding dress too!!! I've never been to Europe, but I do plan on going one day. Even if I only get to go once, I'm going. I also LOVE photography, so I would be taking pictures of everything I could. LOL

I love this site, and I'm glad there is a site where I can find people who are interested in the same things I am. I think you are doing a great job Claire!

Hi i'm Gemma i'm 24 and from West Yorkshire in England. I'm getting married in September and mummy to a long haired chihuahua called Alfie! I don't work as I have cystic fibrosis and had to give work up a year after graduating from university, I studied Law and Psychology. I did work in a college before I gave up work as a mentor for students who were naughty! I now do some voluntary work a few hours a month. I hope one day when I can afford it (which will probably be never!) I might be able to do some courses on the 16th century.

My love for Anne Boleyn has grown since I stopped working really as I have alot of time on my hands and I started reading Phillippa Gregory books then it took off from there. I seem to remember I did have an interest before but never really looked into it further. I have just come back from a trip to London where my fiance and I had a fun filled weekend of Henry VIII, we went to the British Library, Tower of London and Hampton Court. To pay my respects to where Anne is buried was so emotional. I have made a little video of my trip if you are interested . I'm really glad I found this blog/forum! Just starting David Starskys book Six Wives of Henry, I love how Anne makes up about half of the book  Laugh

Hi Gemma,

Not long til you're wedding now, you must be so excited.

If you can't afford to do courses on the 16th century, you could find out what the book lists are for such courses and teach yourself. There's always second hand books on Amazon which are great for us bookworms because you can buy more books that way!

Your trip sounds brilliant and I've watched your video – please can I add it to the Hampton Court Palace page along with Paudie's photos? I know it's available on YouTube but just wanted to check that you didn't mind.

Enjoy your David Stareky book!
