I have just realised that Elizabeth was released from the tower by her sister on May 19th which as we all know was the day of her mother’s execution some years earlier.
Maybe that has been noted by the rest of you before but it quite stunned me when I noticed.
Have you any other examples of creepy coincidence dates in the Tudor saga? These things fascinate me.

I don’t know if you would consider it creepy but Henry VIII died on the birthday of his father Henry VII

I suppose April 23rd as the date for both Shakespeare’s birth and death is a lttle obvious, but nonetheless noteworthy.

yes the birthday of Henry VII being the death day of Henry VIII is a creepy one too especially as the years involved were 1457 and 1547. (transposed middle digits)

I have often wondered if Mary waited to release Elizabeth on May 19th out of spite. When they came to release Elizabeth, she actually thought they had come to take her to her execution. No one had told her she was to be freed. Considering the date and the fact that she was not told of her release, I cannot help but wonder if the knife was being twisted one last time.

I’ve always thought it strange that Katherine Howard, Lady Jane Grey and Mary Queen of Scots were all executed in February and within days apart…..weird or what

Oh wow, I never noticed Henry VIII died on his father’s birthday…very creepy. And Elizabeth being released on her mother’s execution day also kind of odd. Elizabeth must’ve felt a little of what Anne felt that day except Elizabeth went free with her life whereas Anne didn’t.
I’m gonna do a search tonight on dates and see if I can find anything.

I’ve often thought that too. A very much”I have the power now” kind of statement.

It's always bunnies.

If Mary had her released that day by accident it is indeed a spooky coincidence….almost like Elizabeth carrying on Anne’s story if you get my meaning!

Mary (Bloody) Tudor, Died on 17th November 1558, Cardinal Pole also died on the 17th November 1558, within a few hours after Mary.
Mary and Reg were very close as children, and it was once said, that Margaret, and KOA had hoped they would marry, when they were older. Of course Reggy went on to take holy orders etc, but as it goes the Pope actually said that he was prepared to release Reggy from his holy orders if he wanted to marry Mary, thus kowing that England would be in the hands of 2 very devout Catholics, and that between them they could bring England back to Rome. Perhaps if Reggy had agreed and Mary had married him things would be very different to what they are today..

Anne died today in 1536.
Today in 2012 we are celebrating 60 (Golden) Years of Elizabeth 2nd reign.
I rather think that Anne is floating about somewhere watching what is going on..
