"Anne, Henry has fallen from his horse and we can't wake him up....." How would you change history with what happens from here, if you were Anne?

Henry only ever had one true love in his life… himself, and it was a love affair that lasted all his life. Even when he was fat stinky wobble bottom he still saw himself as the golden haired youth, virile and strong, (well he was strong…..strong smelling that is. it was rumoured that you could smell him coming long before you saw him) I might even go so far as saying that Henry was a mysodigyst.
The whole thing with Anne was to prove that he could have any woman he pleased. Anne was a rarity, woman in those day in the upper class of sociaty whether or not you were married or not, were expected to give in to the King if he fancied a rumble. Anne basically told Henry to go do one, and because she said no it made him all the more determined that he would have her one way or another. Think about it. it was well known that King Philip COA’s brother in law had a number of Mistresses, as did King Francois, Henry didn’t want to be left out, and felt that the rest of the world was laughing at him because he’s been refused, so he bombarded Anne with these so called love letters. We know a little of what was said in these letters, one of the letter spoke of Anne’s pretty little duckies which he hoped shortly to kiss. Duckies being a euphemisum for breasts.
That to me isn’t speaking of love it’s more or less p*rnographic. Henry’s letters to Anne were telling her about what he would like to do to her sexually. As daft as it sounds the letter alledgely written to Thomas Culpepper from K.H is more of a love letter. Even COA’s last letter to Henry was a love letter, well of sorts.

I agree with you 100% Boleyn on your observations :) :) :)

henry is the perfect description of a narcissist.

This is the Wikipedia definition:

-“Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder[1] in which the individual is described as being excessively preoccupied with issues of personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity. This condition affects one percent of the population.[2][3] First formulated in 1968, it was historically called megalomania, and is severe egocentrism”.

-“Symptoms of this disorder, as defined by the DSM-IV-TR include:[1]
Takes advantage of others to reach own goals
Expects to be recognized as superior and special, without superior accomplishments
Expects constant attention, admiration and positive reinforcement from others
Envies others and believes others envy him/her
Is preoccupied with thoughts and fantasies of great success, enormous attractiveness, power, intelligence
Lacks the ability to empathize with the feelings or desires of others
Is arrogant in attitudes and behavior
Has expectations of special treatment that are unrealistic”.

-“The cause of this disorder is unknown, however Groopman and Cooper list the following factors identified by various researchers as possibilities:[2]
An oversensitive temperament at birth
Excessive admiration that is never balanced with realistic feedback
Excessive praise for good behaviors or excessive criticism for bad behaviors in childhood
Overindulgence and overvaluation by parents, other family members, or peers
Being praised for perceived exceptional looks or abilities by adults
Severe emotional abuse in childhood
Unpredictable or unreliable caregiving from parents
Valued by parents as a means to regulate their own self-esteem “.

Notice the childhood trauma/abuse mentioned – I think henry’s Mother’s death that occurred unfortunately in his childhood, may have well contributed to him seeing women as ‘weak’. But it’s weird because henry had sisters as well and they seem to have been married off well etc.

I was also just thinking about henry being jealous of King Francis The 1st in taking Mary Boleyn as his mistress, and then henry had to have her too…..if henry had a conscience (or confidence in himself), he wouldn’t have cared what Francis had or did not have (henry was a King for crying out loud!)…..that to me is very strange, it laments in me that henry had no conscience because it is like him thinking -‘if King Francis The 1st believes Mary Boleyn is a fantastic mistress, then I want what he has so that people think I’m awesome too”.

Henry is taking a beating here. I will stick up for him a bit. *cough* Not all of those letters are stalking. After Anne sends him the pendant, (The ship with the girl standing in the bow with the diamond teardrop.) By the time he wrote about her duckies, Anne had obviously agreed to something. I think the letters do change. They get a little romantic. That’s it, I’m done.

OK, through gritted teeth I agree. These letters do show a man totally besotted with a woman. I’m not a Henry fan, but I’ve never thought of these letters as being creepy. He was clearly in lust with her.

Sticking up for henry????? ******GASP!!!**** Queen Anne Boleyn just rolled over in her grave!!! (LOL!)

To put my 5 cents in – I think it’s on the side of obsession for henry and ‘those letters’.

If I continue with my argument that henry was a narcissist all the way, there is this article that fits nicely into the puzzle:

This is an extract from Sam Vaknin’s website regarding narcissists:

-“Such conquests [let’s put Anne Boleyn here] are status symbols, proofs of virility, and they allow the narcissist to engage in “vicarious” narcissistic behaviours, to express his narcissism through the “conquered” women, transforming them into instruments at the service of his narcissism, into his extensions. This is done by employing defence mechanisms such as projective identification.

The narcissist believes that being in love is actually merely going through the motions. To him, emotions are mimicry and pretence.

He says: “I am a conscious misogynist. I fear and loathe women and tend to ignore them to the best of my ability. To me they are a mixture of hunter and parasite.”

Most male narcissists are misogynists. After all, they are the warped creations of women. Women gave birth to them and moulded them into what they are: dysfunctional, maladaptive, and emotionally dead. They are angry at their mothers and, by extension at all women.

The narcissist’s attitude to women is, naturally, complex and multi-layered but it can be described using four axes:

The Holy wh*re
The Hunter Parasite
The Frustrating Object of Desire [Anne Boleyn]
Uniqueness Roles
The narcissist divides all women to saints and wh*res. He finds it difficult to have sex (“dirty”, “forbidden”, “punishable”, “degrading”) with feminine significant others (spouse, intimate girlfriend). To him, sex and intimacy are mutually exclusive rather than mutually expressive propositions.[This could be why henry had so many mistresses].”

Who thought Claire’s post yesterday on henry’s birthday with a sculpture of an evil kid was creepy????? Meeeeeee!! :)

I can’t believe it’s his birthday today, yuck!!!!
