I must admit I do have The Other Boleyn Girl on DVD. Only for entertainment only lol! What confuses me though is something mentioned in one of the bonus features about Anne. The author, Philippa Gregory, says that it is known that Anne was involved in at least one murder plot against the Archbishop of Canterbury. I know how a lot of you all feel about Philippa and how she claims she is a historian and I see why. Since I have begin to read more about Anne I’ve never heard about this “murder plot” other than in this feature. Does anyone have a clue on where she came up with this?

William Warham was the Archbishop of Canterbury until the post was taken over by Thomas Cranmer. I have never heard of a murder plot against Warham and certainly not one which involved Anne and her faction.
Are you sure Gregory referred to a plot against him? I know she has previously stated that Anne was guilty of at least one murder, but she was referring, I think, to the poisoning of Fisher. That too is not proven, so for her to state as fact that Anne was guilty of being behind the poisoning and attempting to kill Fisher is not factual. I presume it is merely her own ‘hunch’.

What you have to remember about Phillipa Gregory is the woman is a moron, she talks more b******s then Tom Jones has in his Y fronts.
She claims to be an historian because she lives in a cloud cuckoo land, and invents things just to make her books look good. She’s no more an historian then Dinosaur is.
As Louise says Fisher was suspected to been poisoned by Anne, but no proof could be found. Anne was blamed for a lot of things. Mary’s recurrent stressitis, K.O.A. death and surprizingly, the Duke of Richmond, and poor hapless Henry Percy too.

I don’t recall PG mentioning who she accused Anne of murdering, but it has been a long time since I read TOBG. I could be wrong but I remember being quite frustrated when she didn’t explain herself. In the back of that book, I thought she said, ‘Anne was involved in at least one murder that we know of.’ If I’m not mistaken, two people died due to the poisoning at Fisher’s home. So I thought she meant Anne had killed KOA. Who knows with her?

I thought SWMNBN meant either Sir/St Thomas More or Cardinal Wolsey.

yes I think you are right sharon I recall somewhere that SWMNBN more or less openly accused Anne of murdering someone.
For someone who says she likes Anne she certainly shows her freindly feeling towards her doesn’t she?
I haven’t got over the probably/certainly guilty bit yet from her interview.
I get more than frustrated Sharon, with her madcap schemes and ideas. She seriously gets right up my bugle at times.

Considering how many people were killed/died in mysterious circumstances during Henry’s reign the possibilities are endless. Maybe Anne killed all of them (More and Fisher, Wolsey, COA, Fitzroy, Fisher’s 2 chums, Buckingham, the Cathusian monks etc). Busy girl may have been yea olde worlde psychopath.

That would be Alison Weir’s Six Wives.

I’m still working on my theory that Alison Weir and Philippa Gregory are actually the same person on the basis I’ve never seen them together. I’m including the theory in my new book ‘The Boleyns: The Rise and Fall of an Alien Family’. Amberley have already expressed an interest.

I don’t think Alison Weir’s books are that bad, it’s evident that she is very thorough in her research. But she does embellish some things a bit… but I think it’s just to make the reading seem more interesting (which really isn’t necessary, not for true Tudor history buffs). Her books are a good read if you are first starting out reading about Tudor history.

PG’s books are bad though! What disappointed me the most about TOBG was that she had Anne actually marry Percy! As if Anne could have married Percy and no one would have known! AB wouldn’t have dared to risk the chance of courting Henry if she’d ever been married before.

Am I right in thinking that there was a rumour put about after Lard boy’s fall in the jousting yard, that Anne had bewitched his horse which made Lard boy fall? I pretty certain that Lard boy believed Anne was trying to kill him.

I don’t know if Weir mentioned that one. Maybe Carolly Erickson or Norah Lofts?

She managed to get accused of the murder of Fitzroy, although he died a couple of months after her execution, so you never know!
