thanks for such a wonderful site! do you happen to know if the quote “god provided for her corpse sacred burial…in a place even as it were consecrate to innocence” comes from wyatt the elder, or his grandson george? i think it’s in norah lofts book, where she suggests the possibility that the burial at salle church might actually be true.

You can find out more about the legend that Anne Boleyn's body was given a sacred burial, at Salle Church, at http://www.reephambenefice.org.uk/anneboleynsburial.html, but those words are those of Thomas Wyatt the Elder and Agnes Strickland, the Victorian historian, quotes them in Volume IV of her "Lives of the Queen of England". I have written about such legends at http://www.theanneboleynfiles.com/where-is-anne-boleyn-buried/4891/
