Decorate Your Own Hood

This is a “decorate your own” version of the Anne Boleyn French Hood which is just perfect if you have your own beading, sequins, trim etc. to match your gown. It features a sturdy base covered with black velvet and is available with a veil of black silk elegance or without.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Although Kris tries to make her items as historically accurate as possible, she believes that there are some "modern" things that make our lives easier...most hoods were attached with ties under the chin - but that can be rather uncomfortable so she makes her Hoods to tie in the back at the hairline. Secondly - usually Black Velvet was used for the veil - she uses black elegance because it is lighter weight and not as hot!

Each French Hood is hand created for each customer. Your headpiece will be made and shipped out to you in 4-6 days from receipt of order and payment.

This is a special order item and so does not fit into our flat rate shipping fees - please choose your shipping service. The use of "Hoods" in general had been used in England for years - but it is believed that Henry VIII's second wife and Elizabeth I's mother, Anne Boleyn brought the FRENCH Hood style of headwear back to England following her service at the court of the French King. Over the years - the styles of the Hood in England changed through the Tudor and Elizabethan Era.

This hood is handmade by Kris in the US. Due to its size, the hood cannot be sent by standard first class within the US. Shipping costs are in addition to our standard $3 domestic US and $4.50 international rates.

The special hood shipping cost only covers the hood as this is sent directly from Kris, the costumer.

    Hi Michelle,

I know it must be frustrating but the dress supplier is in the US and it ships straight from them. There are companies that offer US addresses and forward parcels on to you – I’ve sent you an email of links. Or have you got a friend in the US who could send it on? If you manage to get something sorted out you can then place your order. Sorry!

    Claire x

    Hello Claire,

Would you be so kind as to send me the links of the company’s that will forward mail on to other countries when the sites says will ship to the US only. I am very interested in ordering the dress from The Tudor’s series but live in Canada. I love your website and have spent the past two hours just exploring it. Having been a Tudor “fan” since I was ten when my Mom told me the story of King Henry and his wives. I am almost 40 now and have been studying the Tudor’s ever since. Thanks for the great website on the women has been my favorite Tudor ever since I first read about her years ago.

  14. Claire says:

    Hi Nancy,

I’m so glad that you like the site – thank you!
The links I sent Michelle originally are:-

But I’m not sure which countries they cover. I’ll let you know if I find any more.

  15. Claire says:

I’ve just added photos of Natalie Dormer wearing the Anne Boleyn gown but with blue sleeves, rather than the burgundy ones.

  16. Sam Whyte says:

    Hi Claire,
Just wondering (this might sound like a silly question) I live in the UK, if I order from you, will it come out of my british account no problem? Or will I have to exchange money?
Like I said a daft question, but would rather ask than guess.
    Thankyou.
    Sam

P.s. LOVE the website, always looking when I can, and can’t wait to order with you! :D
    Keep up the good work.

  17. Claire says:

    Hi Sam,

Thanks for your comment and that’s not a silly question at all. Our shop uses Paypal processing so you can pay with a credit or debit card or by a paypal account if you have one. Your payment will be taken in dollars and then your bank or credit card company will handle the exchange from pounds to dollars, you won’t have to do anything at all.

    Kind Regards,

    Claire
